What Is It

Garmin's second-generation track coach, rebuilt as a single windshield-mounted unit.

Catalyst 2 packs the camera, GNSS receiver, accelerometers, gyroscopes, and a 3-inch touchscreen into one unit about the size of an action camera. It mounts to the windshield, recognizes the track, and talks you through braking, corner speed, and line choice through Bluetooth® earbuds or the car's stereo. After each session it picks out your top three opportunities to gain time, so you head back out with a plan instead of a pile of graphs.

The headline feature is still True Optimal Lap™. Catalyst 2 stitches the best segments you actually drove into one composite lap and video, so the target you're chasing is a lap you've already proven you can run, not a theoretical number. Detailed session review, video export, and comparisons with friends happen in the Garmin Catalyst app on your phone or tablet.

Common Questions

Does Catalyst 2 need a phone to work at the track?

No. Coaching, lap timing, and the post-session top three all happen on the device itself. The Garmin Catalyst app is where you watch your True Optimal Lap video, dig into detailed data, and export clips, and some of those features need an internet connection.

Can it run on battery for a full session?

The internal battery is rated for up to 45 minutes. For track days, we recommend running it on the car's 12V power with the included vehicle power cable and dual-port adapter so it stays charged through back-to-back sessions.

Is a subscription required?

No. An optional Garmin Vault plan adds cloud storage for your optimal and best lap videos, friends' videos, and leaderboards, but the core coaching and analysis work without it.

Can I use Catalyst 2 at the drag strip?

Yes. The built-in drag racing timer records 0 to 60 mph, 1/8-mile, and 1/4-mile runs, in addition to its road course coaching tools.

Can Catalyst 2 be used on public roads?

No. Garmin designs Catalyst 2 for use on closed courses, not on public roads.

Currently, UPS is our preferred shipping carrier for both domestic and international orders, however we will ship via FedEx if required. At checkout, you may select your preferred service type from UPS and benefit from our discounted shipping rates. Orders received before 2:30PM EST are able to be shipped the same day, pending the items ordered are in stock at our location. We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations.

When you place an order, we will estimate shipping and delivery dates for you based on the availability of your items and the shipping options you choose. Depending on the shipping provider you choose, shipping date estimates may appear on the shipping quotes page.

Returns Policy

You may return most new, unopened items within 7 days of delivery for a full refund (less the cost of shipping). Special order items will be subject to a restocking fee, so please contact us before sending your item. Your refund will process within one week of Creative Motorsport Solutions receiving your item. Please note the time it takes your bank to process your refund may take up to 5 to 10 business days.
