Trackside, most people just call it "that damn ABS cable." Whatever you call it, it's the USB link between your laptop and everything Bosch Motorsport runs on the car, from ABS to ECUs, dashboards, and power boxes.

Bosch's calibration and diagnostic software doesn't talk to a race car's electronics over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, it talks through a cable, and the MSA-Box II is that cable. It plugs into your laptop over USB, and connects to the car's electronics over K-Line, CAN, or Ethernet, whichever the target device uses. Every vehicle-side connection is galvanically isolated from the PC side, so you're not risking your laptop, or the car's electronics, every time you plug in.
It's a low-cost, purpose-built interface, not a general-purpose adapter. If you're running Bosch Motorsport hardware and need to configure it, read its data, or update its firmware, this is how you get in.

Bosch's recommended OS for the MSA-Box II is Windows 10. On some Windows 11 systems, the standard MSA-Box driver can fail to install due to a Windows Driver policy that blocks signed drivers without WHCP certification. Bosch has published an official workaround below to get the MSA-Box II running until a permanent driver fix is available.
This process temporarily disables Windows' driver signature enforcement so the MSA-Box driver can load, then re-enables Secure Boot once the policy files are removed.

Because it's the tool nobody remembers they need until the ABS needs setup trackside and it's not in the box. It's officially the MSA-Box II, but ask around the paddock and you'll hear it called the MSA cable, the MSA 2 cable, and a few less printable names, usually right after someone realizes they left it at the shop.
The MSA-Box II is the hardware link, the calibration software is separate: RaceABS for ABS setup, RaceCon or Modas Sport for ECU calibration, and WinDarab for downloading and reviewing logged data. Which one you need depends on what device you're connecting to.
Most notably, Bosch ABS systems, where it's essentially a required tool. Beyond that, it's also widely used with PDMs, dashboards, and ECUs.
