Gentex GNTX-R 2.0 Rear Vision System for Motorsport

Built for Racing. Refined by Experience.

For customers who need exceptional image clarity and low-latency rearward visibility without the space for a larger monitor, the Gentex GNTX-R 2.0 is an exceptional solution for a racing rear view camera system. At CMS, we took an already proven motorsport system and improved it for the realities of race-car use.

We don't simply receive the system from a distributor and slap a shipping label on the box. We configure it with the same mindset we bring to the motorsport wiring and electronics we build every day: it needs to work, and it needs to survive racing.

We build a custom 12-foot Power/CAN harness, replace the factory connector with a motorsport-grade Deutsch Autosport connection, and protect the harness with Raychem DR-25 and a molded boot. Every detail is intended to make the system better suited to the heat, vibration, moisture, and tight packaging found in a real race car.

That's the difference with CMS. We've spent decades in the pits, around the paddock, and at racetracks across the country. We've learned that a component can work perfectly on a workbench and still fall short when subjected to the realities of motorsport. Our products are built with that experience in mind, because our customers aren't just buying a camera system, they're trusting us with equipment they depend on when they're on track.

If you need a high-clarity, low-latency rear vision solution and don't have the space for a larger monitor, the GNTX-R 2.0 delivers the performance you need in a remarkably compact package. And when you buy it from CMS, you're getting more than the system as it comes out of the box. You're getting a system we've taken the time, experience, and engineering effort to make race-ready.

The Benchmark Racing Rear View Camera

If you've ever driven a race car with a large rear wing, engine cover, window net, and HANS device, you know how quickly a traditional mirror becomes almost useless. The Gentex GNTX-R 2.0 Motorsport Rear Vision System has become the benchmark racing rear view camera, found throughout IMSA, SRO, Porsche Carrera Cup, Lamborghini Super Trofeo, and countless endurance racing programs, while also becoming a favorite upgrade for serious track day and HPDE drivers who want professional-level equipment.

What sets Creative Motorsport Solutions apart is that we don't simply ship the system as it arrives from Gentex. We replace the factory plastic power connector on the mirror with a genuine Deutsch Autosport connector, sealed with Raychem DR-25 and a molded Raychem boot, then pair it with our custom-built 12-foot motorsport-grade power/CAN harness. The result is a cleaner, more serviceable, and significantly more durable installation, engineered to withstand the heat, vibration, moisture, and punishment of competitive racing.

CMS Exclusive Upgrade

A Harness Built to Survive Racing, Not A Showroom

The GNTX-R 2.0 ships from the factory with a plastic power connector, adequate for road use but not ideal for the heat, vibration, and moisture found in a race car. Creative Motorsport Solutions replaces it with a genuine Deutsch Autosport connector, sealed with Raychem DR-25 and a molded Raychem boot, then pairs it with a custom-built 12-foot motorsport-grade Power/CAN harness. It's a small change that makes a real difference in long-term reliability and serviceability.

A Factory-Style View, Even in the Pits

Mounted in place of the factory mirror, the GNTX-R 2.0 gives the driver a clear, familiar rearward view without adding a separate screen to the dash. Shown here in a McLaren GT race car we supplied with our upgraded connector and harness, the display captures the pit lane and paddock behind the car in full detail.

Prototype Racing

Proven at the Prototype Level

The GNTX-R 2.0 also holds up in the most demanding cockpits in racing. This factory-fitted Cadillac prototype shows the mirror doing its job in the middle of a pit lane, delivering a clear rear view despite the car's bodywork and the visibility challenges that come with closed-cockpit prototype racing.

Backlight Control

Backlight & Dimming Control

The display brightness can be controlled two ways, depending on how your car's electrical system is set up: standard 12V switching or CAN-BUS.

Standard 12V Dimming

With 12V and ground supplied, the display defaults to its brighter setting. Applying 12V to Pin 3 switches the display down to a preset dim level, roughly 70% of full brightness.

This method only supports two brightness levels (bright and dim), and is the standard approach for cars that aren't running a CAN network.

Pin Function
Pin 3 12V dim input (non-CAN)

Two brightness levels only: high (default) and ~70% dim.

CAN-BUS Dimming

For cars running CAN, CAN Low and CAN High are wired to Pins 4 and 5, at a 1 Mb/s baud rate. Sending static CAN messages, either over a USB-to-CAN device or your car's private CAN network, gives full control of the backlight across the full 0-255 range instead of just two levels.

The mirror only needs to receive one valid CAN frame per power cycle to hold its brightness level. Some teams build variable step sizes into their networks so drivers can dial in their own day and night backlight preference.

Pin Function
Pin 4 CAN (-)
Pin 5 CAN (+)

1 Mb/s baud rate · 0-255 brightness range · one valid frame per power cycle required.
