Bosch Motorsport Buyer's Guide

Bosch Motorsport ABS M5 System: The Complete Buyer's Guide

Every kit, every option, and which one belongs on your race car.

The Bosch Motorsport ABS M5 is the benchmark motorsport anti-lock braking system for racers who demand maximum braking performance, consistency, and driver confidence. Built for competition use only, it replaces the previous M4 platform with faster processing, improved wheel slip control, and extensive vehicle calibration. Available in Kit 1/2, Clubsport, and Porsche Cup-specific configurations, it supports FWD, RWD, and AWD race cars from factory GT3 and GT4 programs to club racing, time attack, hill climb, and custom builds.

What's the Difference?

Clubsport is a universal, ready-to-run harness. Kit 1 and Kit 2 are built around your car, with the same advanced control strategies available on both.

The only functional difference between Kit 1 and Kit 2 is the wheel speed sensor connector: Kit 1 uses standard connectors, Kit 2 uses mil-spec connectors. Both unlock the same advanced control strategies and both are eligible for Bosch engineer calibration.

What the Advanced Control Strategies Do

FeatureWhat It Does
Downforce-dependent slipAdjusts wheel slip targets based on aerodynamic load, so the system accounts for how much downforce is pressing the tires into the track at a given speed.
Lateral deceleration slipOptimizes ABS intervention during high lateral G-force cornering, for braking that happens while the car is still loaded up mid-corner.
Inside wheel slip reductionHelps minimize inside wheel lock-up while trail braking, a common failure point for cars carrying brake pressure deep into a corner.
ABS off functionPosition 1 on the function switch can be configured to fully disable ABS, for drivers or conditions that call for it.
CAN-based map selectionChange ABS maps over CAN communication in addition to the physical switch, useful for teams integrating map changes into a broader vehicle control system.
Flexible CAN integrationConfigurable CAN wiring supports seamless integration into your specific vehicle's existing electronics.

Buying Consideration

Custom hard lines between the master cylinder and ABS module are required and must be supplied by you — they're not included in either Porsche kit. Plan for this before install day.

Porsche Cup Kits: What's Not Included

These parts complete the brake line install between the master cylinder and the ABS unit on any Porsche Cup chassis. We don't sell them — source the genuine Porsche parts through Pelican Parts, and have the two hard lines custom-made by a shop that can bend/flare brake line to spec.

Not Sure Which Wheel Speed Sensor You Need?

DF11s (standard), DF11i (less common), or DF11v (rare) — picking the wrong one holds up your build. Send us your factory wheel speed sensor and we'll test it free of charge to identify the correct type and matching CAN bus speed before your ABS M5 ships. You only cover shipping to and from our facility. If it's not a direct plug-and-play match, we'll help source a solution.
